Rev Morris Sing Key has just returned from Jakarta Indonesia where he spent 2 years with a private Christian University UPH (Universitas Pelita Harapan) as Chaplain to the Medical Sciences Group and Associate Professor in the Medical Faculty lecturing in DPES ( Doctor / Patient / Ethics and Society) to medical students in Pastoral Care and Compassion, Listening and Responding with Empathy Skills etc. He has been a Chaplain for 25 years in Sydney Hospitals and a CPE Supervisor for about 18 years. His research interests include models of Pastoral Care and Spiritual Assessment and Theological Reflection. He is a part time visiting lecturer at Moore Theological College in Advanced Pastoral Ministry. Morris also is available for Professional Individual Supervision at his Office at the REN Building at Westmead Hospital.

Sarah lives on the Northern beaches of Sydney with her husband and two children. She has a heart to see pastoral ministry flourish in this area. For this reason Sarah will concentrate some of her time training those interested in pastoral care in this region, with a vision of setting up a pastoral care 'hub'. Sarah is an Acting Level II Pastoral Supervisor and operates out of the Westmead Centre of Pastoral Education, for training in Chaplaincy and pastoral care visitation across hospitals, mental health facilities, age-care homes, and prisons. Sarah also lectures at Mary Andrews College (MAC) in Pastoral Evangelism. Sarah wrote this course for the Australian College of Theology (ACT) by drawing on her experience in both pastoral care and evangelism to bring about a holistic approach to sharing the gospel with others.

Mrs Diana Davidson is a Level 3 CPE Supervisor and Pastoral Educator.
She has a background in physiotherapy. She did her CPE training at Royal North Shore Hospital, and later was the Pastoral Counsellor for the Intensive Care Unit for ten years. On moving to the Central Coast she became Chaplain for Long Jetty and Woy Woy Hospitals where she lives. She loves to walk to the beach and have a swim. She has three adult children and six grandchildren. She loves her involvement with CPE supervision. Her adult children comment that she has got retirement all wrong.
As a Member Institute of the Sydney College of Divinity, the NSW College of Clinical Pastoral Education provides Master of Arts degrees specialising in Chaplaincy and Pastoral Supervision, and gives credit for Basic and Advanced Units of CPE.

COURSE DETAILS FOR 2017
(1) Introductory level (40 hours)
(2) Basic level (400 hours)*
(3) Advanced level (400 hours) and
(4) Supervisory level for supervisors in training.
CPE INTRODUCTORY LEVEL COURSES (40 hours) -
This is the minimum requirement to join a hospital chaplaincy team: The introductory CPE course is suitable for lay people, theological students and clergy wanting an orientation into pastoral care in the hospital environment and also insight into the needs and vulnerability of hospital patients and their families. The principles of this course can be translated across into other Pastoral Care settings.
This course may be available over one intensive 40 hour week or one day a week over 5 weeks depending on demand and availability of CPE Supervisors. Students will also be introduced to theological reflection, spiritual assessment and pastoral care models during this course. The course will help participants become more aware of their listening and responding skills, understand the power of empathy, have a better understanding of the needs of hospital patients and provide students with an opportunity to explore and examine a case study (verbatim) of a visit to a patient by a chaplain or a CPE trainee.
The 40hr INTRODUCTORY course acts as a pre-requisite for the BASIC 400hr course and is the minimal hospital requirement for any volunteer pastoral carers to visit in NSW Hospitals.
The tuition fee in 2017 for INTRODUCTORY CPE courses is $200.There is an additional charge made by the NSW College of CPE of $50 for the administration and issuing of the Introductory CPE Certificate. A minimum number for the course to proceed is 8 participants.
The next 40hr INTRODUCTORY CPE Programs will be:
(1) June Intensive 26th-30th 2017 (Christian Course)
(2) July Intensive 3rd -7th 2017 (Multi-Faith Course)
(3) On 5 consecutive Thursdays in November 2, 9, 16,23,30
There will also be an Introductory course run by the Westmead Centre at Manly Hospital,

400 hour CPE Unit Part-time Basic conducted on Tuesdays running from August - December
The 3 day orientation for this course is July 24th, 25th and 26th.
Please note that the usual pre-requisite for this course is a 40hr Introductory CPE course.

The Students enrolled in the MA (Chaplaincy) degree program. The unit of CPE will be $1545.00 (plus various admin fees). The Cost for an Advanced CPE Unit will be $1,770.00 (PLEASE NOTE TOO THAT BASIC CERTIFICATES WILL BE $155.00 in 2017. *THE NSWCCPE DOES NOT CHARGE GST)
